Actually my Apricot Vigorosa came from Northland Rosarium also. I moved it this year and did not recover very well so I've ordered it this year from Palatine In case I lose it over winter. I do have 3 Pomponella that are ten years old from Palatine that grow 6-7ft. and a good 6 feet across. Here they have no cane left in spring and grow up from the ground to their sizes. I had to remove one of the pomponellas due to a rose disease that I had never seen before. When dug the graft was gone and it had grown on its own roots.

The plan for Apricot Vigorosa was to root a cutting if successful, then remove the multiflora rose. I have a feeling after emailing Carol that the own root AV didn't do well there either. So don't anyone jump to get AV just because it did well for me. But it has been wonderful for a good long time.

Good choice Neal, I am a big fan of Kordes roses, Grimm Brothers Fairy Tale is the best one in my yard, I added my comment in the database entry. Thumbs up
I also have Caramella Fairy Tale, a fabulous tall upright shrub (mine is 6-7 feet) and my Golden Fairy Tale is own root and still quite small in a pot but it will be planted this spring so I hope it will finally take off.

Sue, I had been wavering about Grimm Brothers, because I didn't have a spot in mind for it (but really liked it), until I looked closely at your data base photos..... they convinced me I need it!

Got my order confirmation from Palatine and Berolina was sold out, so I replaced it with Friesia/Sunsprite . I'm downright giddy about planting new roses again!

I'm with you on the giddy part. After a good six years of no new roses I ran into own root Kordes roses at Rural King. They were ten dollars with no shipping obviously. Well you should have seen those pots jumping in my cart.

Now you only have to wait till spring. Is it March yet?

Thanks Patty! Oh my! That is the yellow rose of my dreams! She's also in zone 6, which makes me extra excited about growing it!

Neal, please tell me I am not seeing this stuff show up on my Easy Does It. It is right next to where Julia was and these just don't look right to me. Sad

Hi, Cindi. Smiling Not the red, most of my Roses have red foliage on the growth. It is the form that has me anxious. Sad

oh, didn't see that at first! Crying Maybe cut that cane off at the bottom and see if it appears elsewhere on that plant?

Deb, it only looks slightly suspicious to me, but not nearly as messed up as I typically see from RRD. Better safe than sorry, so removing it is probably a good idea. I always watch closely any that were near an infected plant, it can take them a while to show symptoms. Did Julia get RRD?

Yes, and I had to dig her up. Very sad, too, because she was one of my favorites and not just for the flower--I liked Julia Child. Smiling

I suspect Julia Child is more susceptible to RRD than other roses. I had 3 Julias that succumbed, and the roses next to them did not get the virus. They all came from different nurseries, so that wasn't the cause.
The sad thing is, Julia Child is very resistant to all the other diseases, and holds up very very well to heat and humidity.
It's one of the earliest bloomers in the spring, so I planted yellow and white iris with Butter and Cream in their names in that same bed. Just my own little tribute to Julia the cook. nodding

I know this is hard to believe but all roses are equally susceptible to rrd. If an infected mite lands on a bush it will come down with rrd. Eriophyid mites are very slow crawlers so they tend to stay where they land. They feed on the inside of the bud or stems until their ready to leave the shrub. By quickly removing the rose you can prevent the spread. It has been found that the mites tend to leave their host plants at two times. When plants become stressed due to drought and during rain events.
