Greg, what kind of fern IS that! I've never seen anything like it. It's lovely.

Stush, I love the Carralluma...I have one, don't know the species. Very cute little flower.

Like the ferns, Greg. And I'm wishing Kokopelli would show up already and there hasn't been much winter yet.

I know every few years my taste changes. After Sansevieria is Asclepiads and before them was philos so who knows where my interest will go to. Also some where inbetween them was Euphorbias. My friend is getting me into Echevierias and may renew my love for Semps.
Here's a few Carralluma that I got my eye on.

Kate my fern is an asparagus plumosa (or "Plumosa Fern") Asparagus Fern (Asparagus setaceus)
in the stores or nurseries they are small so look different...this one is at least 35 years old, and tied up, which to me could be how these ferns grow in the wild (if they're from tropical regions, they could be partially epiphytic don't have any idea but it seems likely, given all the ferns one sees growing on the trees in the rain forests!!) Thumbs up
I tip my hat to you.

Here's a pic of the Caralluma piaranthoides (a piece that fell off when I was taking it home ). At least that's what I think it is...that's how it was labeled at Tropiflora (the nursery where I found it). Though I read that many Carallumas are being reclassified as Pachycymbium. Sighing! Confused

Kate,
Since I own one, I believe your plant to be Orbea schweinfurthii. Flowers that smell like oranges. Well maybe then rotted oranges. Sorry I can't find pictures of the one mine came from. Mine is just small like yours pictured.

Ah! It doesn't really look like the images I found online of what the tag said...so the Orbea makes sense! Thank you. And rotted oranges is a very accurate description! My son gets a great kick out of sniffing them and saying EWWWW over and over again. :D

Here's the link I got it from;
https://www.google.com/search?...
It is Caralluma russeliana which has a black flower head. It also show different colors due to validity of seeds.
