Palm Warblers and a female Red-bellied WP

Sweet little Palm Warblers. We are going to have the film put on out south facing windows this spring, we are sick of frying in the living room and our computer rooms during the summer.

All the woodpeckers except the pileated have been here today. Had to go to Greencastle so that meant I saw a hawk... so a good day.

We have had trouble occasionally with the red-bellied woodpeckers drilling on the vent pipe for our bathroom up on the roof. And they only do it in the morning!

These are from yesterday. I missed getting a shot of the Hairy and the Crows. The Blue Jays were just flybys yesterday for some reason. The Titmice were not cooperating either. The lighting left a lot to be desired. But, you use what ya get!

Another bird from my wildlife refuge trip. Osprey is another life bird for me.

Nice Jay! We have lots of Osprey nests around town but I haven't seen any birds at the nests lately. We took our dog for a walk on the beach on Christmas Day and Osprey's were flying around and diving for fish but I didn't get any pictures. There's a Wal-Mart and Sam's Club about a mile down the road from us and there's a huge Osprey nest in a tree in the Wal-Mart parking lot and a manmade nesting platform in the Sam's lot ... I'm going to have to remember to check them both out to see if perhaps there is a bird at home.

Osprey is a winter bird for us. Being close to the coast and two flyways, we get a lot of migratory and overwintering birds.

I love watching Osprey fish! I've been lucky enough to see it many times, and it never gets old.

Wish I could have seen this Bald Eagle fishing in person. Bruce is my brother-in-law. What a lucky guy!

Wow, that is amazing ... your brother in law is lucky indeed to be able to have an experience like that!

The funny thing is that 2 1/2 years later, I can still find his 15 minutes of fame all over the internet!

I see Oprey during the spring & fall migrations. They are a fascinating bird. On another site we had a lady in Australia that followed a family over several years. Loved her beautiful photographs.

Claudia, I remember on DG member Margaret from Australis was following a pair of Osprey for a few years ... her posts were fascinating as were her amazing photos!

Ospreys are year round residents here in Florida and they are wonderful birds to watch and photograph. They nest atop manmade platforms supplied for them in parking lots, along roadways and even build nests atop light poles in the Wal-Mart and Sam's parking lots! These photos are from last June ... the one of the Osprey flying overhead I took from my deck and the photo of the two at the nest was at the Tennis Club here in the neighborhood. I need to go up to the tennis courts sometime and see if they are still nesting there.

Yes, it was Margaret! She tried really hard to publish a book about the Swan River nest with no success. She had all of us captivated with their story.
