Dan and I went up to the Des Moines Flower and Garden show yesterday, 3-19-10. Hollingsworth Peony was there and I picked up four new peony roots!!! Yay!! I realize they have been in cold storage all winter but you cannot tell that they weren't just dug yesterday they are so nice!! I got Miss America, a white semi-double; Roy Pherson's Best Yellow, a yellow single; Philomele, a pink anemone; and Mackinac Grand, a deep red semi-double with yellow center. I'm as happy as a little clam!! As usual, the guys from Hollingsworth are wonderful! Love their peonies!! Yay!!

Oh, you are so lucky. They didn't come to our garden show in Wichita this year. Hopefully, I'll see them at the Heartland Peony Sale this fall.
Don't you just love garden shows when it is cold and dreary outside? Come on, spring!

Yes, I prefer to go to garden shows when I can't be out working in my gardens. It makes me feel so much less guilty about stealing time away. Smiling LOL

You should be delighted with Mackinac Grand once it becomes established. One of those peonies you just say "Oh" about. It does like a fair amount of fertilizer.

Thanks Alana, I'll keep that in mind about Makinac Grand. Smiling It is a gorgeous peony. But, as you know, I've never met a peony I didn't like... Smiling LOL

You do have a very knowledgeable team. Smiling I need to get more of my peony buddies to road trip down sometime... They need to see your fields in full bloom. Smiling

I most cerainly would love to make the trip next year. It comes at the perfect time of year too....when I am desperate for digging and am in search of spring. Though it may find me broke as the outcome . Lol.
