Those are nice. I noticed that the description of "Crazy One" says "Tweener, speckled red with large yellow teeth, midrib, yellow throat." What in the world is "tweener"?

Not sure, but I think movies such as The Hunger Games, Divergent, etc., are referred to as movies for "the tweeners" -- meaning maybe youths to young teens?

I like his videos too. You get to see them in garden setting that way , not just 1 perfect bloom with perfect lighting. I love a bunch of these, but I'm probably only getting some from the bargain bin. Since I'm not supposed to be ordering anything

You said a mouthful there. I can think of a couple of hybridizers whose catalog photos are totally over-processed and enhanced.

Yes, there are. On the other hand, a couple of them see awfully similar. Which makes me wonder why he didn't just release the better looking of the two
I've seen that trend in other catalogs.

There is the Road Not Taken. I don't like it because it looks like a dying bloom to me. However it's a perfect example of the inclusive accommodation of the varying preferences found in the Hem world. I really appreciate that lack of rigidly defining what a bloom must be before it's accepted. I'm assuming there are folks who do like the form and, who knows, I might come to like it myself at some point. At least the option is available.

I am not crazy about Road Not Taken either... but the shape kind of reminds me of a columbine or daffodil with the cup shape. So who knows, maybe someday I will like that shape in a daylily

I have written to Dan a couple of times in the past asking if we can add his photos to the ATP database and maybe my emails went into his spam folders, never heard back from him. If anyone is in contact with him, perhaps they can ask? And let him know we add links back to his site with every image.
I have always loved his real life in-the-garden images! Used to chat with him on the phone a few times when I was the procurement chair for our club, he is a character!
