Paul--it looks like Casablanca, but it's not. It's a little to upright. There are so many white Orientals in the market nowadays that it would be hard to say with certainty what it is, really. If you bought these from a grower/seller, I would suggest asking them. If you got them from a big box store, then it was probably labeled as Casablanca but it's strong upright character tends to indicate it's a recent hybrid developed primarily for the cut flower industry. Great looking, either way .
I agree with Lorn. There are many white Oriental lilies. It is similar to Siberia in form (a somewhat congested, columnar inflorescence) but it is really too ruffled to be that one. It looks like you took the photo at a nursery...
I love lilies, but I don't post much here, though I check in to see if there's new photos and what's going on. But, I have Casa Blanca, and the first couple years, the blooms tended toward more down-facing and I just didn't like it for my cut flower bouquets. But strangely, the last couple years they've been more upfacing than normal, almost as much as in the photo. And I've loved it. Can that happen?
Kay--most 'real' garden type Casablanca that I've observed are strongly out facing to slightly up facing. I will say that with many Orientals, the true orientation of the flower may take a couple years to obtain. So the longer they've been planted and left undisturbed the more accurate the natural orientation will be. Keep this in mind, as well--I had questioned a 'forcer' back in 2010 about orientation, and in particular, with Star Gazer and Casablanca. He told me that besides the two main versions of Casablanca (one for garden and one for greenhouse cutting), that he has seen even more versions of each. I think the most important thing is that your Casablanca are apparently doing well and that you're happy with them.
For those of you that have 'Ice Caves', I need your help. Could this be 'Ice Caves' with a green throat? I know I had a couple Ice Caves with green throats, but I don't recall them having such long pedicels. It came from a row the voles got into, chewing everything as they went down the row, leaving scales and tags strewn about. I dug the row a safe distance to salvage what I could, realizing I'd have to re-identify some.
View from above, I see the picture uploaded sideways, but you can make out the foliage, either way.
I have Ice Caves Lorn but mine has more of a gold throat. I wish it was green. It only had one bloom in it's first year last year so I can't accurately ID it.
