there have been so many active threads I haven't been able to keep up.. I just read the sad news from Jan and Tom. My heartfelt condolences and sympathy to both of you.
The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it has never tried to contact us.
Jan and Tom, wishing you both comfort and peace. My fathers funeral and burial were on Christmas eve in 1998, it's a particularly difficult time to deal with such loss.
"...and don't think the garden loses its ecstasy in winter. It's quiet, but the roots are down there riotous." Rumi
My parents buried their first-born daughter at the age of 5, on Christmas Eve in 1946. And my father died on Christmas Day night in 1995. Christmas has always been bittersweet in my family. My sympathies to those who share similar experiences.

Tough to have sad memories for Christmas. My 2 uncles & an aunt died at Christmas as children. Dad said that his mother did not enjoy Christmas very much. Understandable. Diptheria is not seen very much any more because of shots. & these people who neglect to vaccinate their children make me angry. So there is my Christmas rant plus prayers for all children at risk.
