Here's a white tree peony...I'm so bad at keeping track of the names. I'm sure I have it somewhere!

Your pictures have me even more looking forward to spring. Tree peonies are some of my favorite peonies.

3 days ago...note my tree peony(the 4 sticks in the right foreground with the daffodils). It has four buds at this point. Today is mid 60's and beautiful. Oh what a fun time we have here in Maine, lol

My first peony flowers of the year! This is Yao Huang from B&D. This is it's 3rd year and it has 11 buds! It's actually a pale yellow, but looks more white in these pictures. Both these flowers are on the same plant. It was pretty windy out but the flower is much more symmetrical than it looks.

So pretty! I've often looked over the B&D selections of tree peony in the spring, but it always seems they are up for such a short time and by the time I decide they aren't available for shipping anymore.

The flowers look completely different. Is one coming up on the root stock? I have one tree peony that the grafted root stock always comes up .

Gorgeous flowers!

I'll have to check on the root stock question - never thought of that.

Oh, and this one has a great fragrance to boot!

The second flower is typical of Yao Huang. The first if it develops tree peony stems, which from the bud next to the open flower I doubt, would be a good bonus. Occasionally a second tp root gets tangled with another and both are packed. Hope that is the case with yours. I got a bonus in a white I received last year when I decided to pull what appeared to be an extra stock from the mother plant. Mother plant did not bloom but the one I pulled apart is a stripped purple. This was one I had in full sun and bloom only lasted a day so no pictures. Will be moving both plants later this year to a more shaded area.

Alana, I checked the stems last night and they both look like tree peony stems, but it is definitely 2 plants. The single one is a creamy white, the other is yellow. Do you recommend I dig them up and separate them?

Put a tag on each stem showing which color is which now while you can tell the color. Then this fall dig up and separate. Since the single has the appearence of an osti you may have a plant that was actually grafted on tree peony roots as those are used because they are cheap.
