Well, almost nothing...

Traditional, natural Christmas cacti, paperwhites, and a poinsettia are the limits of our festorations. And to be fair, only the paperwhites come out for Christmas. And while the poinsettia is new this year, the last one was five years old (I think) and spent the summers outdoors (and you try living with a bathroom that *must* be dark for 12 hours a day for a few months...). Thinking a little more about it, it does seem that someone decorated the asparagus fern, too.

I'm leaning more toward team nothing every year. Our tree this year is a 1-year seedling in a gallon pot on the back deck with no decorations (but hey at least it's out there). Gary strung some lights randomly here and there, and I set out some Santa guys but that's about the extent of our decor. Xmas is really not my favorite holiday although I haven't stooped totally to bah-humbug. On the positive side, our nuclear family (2 parents 2 adult children 1 grandchild 1 significant other) has committed to gifting each other one full weekend in 2015 for whatever work party the recipient pulls together - quality time together without frivolous spending. We all like the idea... but we shall see how it actually pans out.

Edited to add: I'm attempting to recreate my folks' traditional Tom & Jerry hot toddy - neither is still around so hard to figure out which of the massive online recipes might be the 'right' one, although my mom was not a real adventurous cook so I'm going with simple. My general recollection is eggy-foamy on top with hot water below and of course we young-uns didn't have any spirits in ours. Grated fresh nutmeg.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

Last year, I had teenagers and toddlers in my house at Christmas, so there was a tree. I usually just hang a silver-painted grapevine wreath on the front door. Live alone, two dogs--not much point in decorating. Was challenged on another thread to make a tree of light on the outside of my house. Discovered AFTER buying two strings of lights that there wasn't anywhere close enough to an electrical outlet. Ended up with this 'tree' using the lights and some little things I randomly assembled (like an old heart-shaped rabies tag and Mardi Gras beads and colored metallic binder clips). Have to click on them to get the full image.
