We don't use a real tree because of allergies, trees hold a lot of mold very bad for people allergic to molds it is not fun being sick because of a tree.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!
Faith is the postage stamp on our prayers!

Although I do miss the smell and freshness of a real tree, we haven't had one for at least 10 years. I just hate the waste of natural resources, growing and pruning trees for years, not to mention the shipping on trucks for thousands of miles to get fir trees to Florida to be used for a week then sent to the landfill for mulch.
We got a little fiber-optic tree that changes color, and is just the right size for our little area. Our grandkids think it is 'groovy'. I get a laugh out of it every time we put it up.

When I was about 4 years old, my family switched from natural to artificial. I wasn't all that happy about that but my dad told me that now we wouldn't have to kill a tree and that satisfied me. I've had an artificial tree now for at least 45 years. I don't know what it is like to have a real one though I figure it is a big mess.
Sadly, a couple of years ago my wife's asthma started kicking up because of the real tree. As Betty said it's no fun when the Christmas tree makes you sick.
With the fake tree, we also gave up the trips to the mountains to cut our own. I miss that.
