That Calypso Beat is an elegant thing -- ordinarily I wouldn't give it a second look (the color combination is not exciting!) But that narrow white stripe down the center of the falls is enchanting!!!

War Chief has been a consistent increaser for me. I spread it around every couple years. It's gorgeous! I can't wait for me others to bloom.

This site is good at getting us through the drear days of winter.

Helebores, crocuses, tulips/daffodils...after that, it's a crap shoot. Things bloom weirdly or by the book. 6 weeks or so from now, we should be seeing the Helebore buds!

I was pleased to notice the other day that my daffodils are beginning to show shoots of green! I only have a few, plus a few tulips and hyacinth...but I love having those early blooms! Hmmm...I think I need to plant more....

I'm seeing their little noses popping up too; I know it's still going to be a while here, but it does make me happy seeing them poised and ready to go. This is the 2nd year running I've gone bulb crazy, planted just over 2000 (about half of those were small bulbs, so not as crazy as it sounds, LOL), so I'm extra excited for spring!

Unfortunately the daffodils always try to beat the crocus around here, meaning they start really growing in February, and are often frozen in March. Many years we have had a real cold snap in March so I have to go cut all the blooms and bring them inside. The iris at least wait until the end of April when the weather is lovely.

I have ornamental onion and tulips poking up now. They'll probably stay like until the first of March, maybe.

Ha. I won't see green tips til probably April. And my Helbore are in a spot that doesn't get snow free til the end of April (if I am lucky). I keep trying them but not much luck. To say I am green with envy of you guys down south is to be a great understatement. Sigh. But that is the way each spring. So I enjoy looking and hearing about all of your flowers.
