Stenosarcos Vanguard 'Fireball' takes its sweet time to open, so in the meanwhile I thought I show the pretty plant with its spikes in progress.
The generous Jim Rose from Cal-Orchids gave me this plant as a gift some years ago.

For those of you who grow the Sarcoglottis outside year-round, when you see those buds forming, how long does it take to get the little green-dragon flowers?

Phal Baldans Kaleidoscope still slowly forming the flower spike..steady as it goes:

Thumb of 2015-02-02/tarev/fc8ae9

Now this one is a noid Phal, that has so far just been forming new leaves and roots..fun to see a new growth on one of the roots. I just find it interesting when it manages to start to form a side root, oftentimes, just growing long noodle-like roots: Any new growth is anticipation fun for me! Big Grin There is a little growth in between the leaves..not sure if it is just another new leaf trying to form or a spike..so am just waiting for it to show more of itself.

Good stuff.

Ken, I haven't done it yet, but you could simply look up when we posted blooms.
Most of the time we bloomed them together, no matter what the location.

Ken I think most of the "Jewel" Orchids, such as the Stenosarcos, Ludisa etc, bloom this time of year. Mine live outside in a large shallow clay pot till we start getting these long runs of below 50ยบ nights and it's blooming now. I should get a pic ! .
At the nearby Orchid nursery they have a HUGE bench of them and they are all blooming, and I'm sure their temperature / humidity are more evenly held than in my greenhouse. They are just late winter bloomers.
God gave us wings. He just called them horses

Do these plants continue to bloom, putting up other buds, or are they "one-time-wonders", just blooming now? How long should I expect my plants to be in bloom?

I think I see a spike forming on my Zygopetalum Smiling Wow, this is the earliest it is doing it...usually it is by mid to late Spring. I guess our current conditions feels like Spring to it.

I was out in the GH yesterday bummed out because I will be on crutches for 3 months and unable to ride for 8-9 months and I noticed that Dendrobium hercoglossum has buds! That brightened up my day! This will be the first time that I have ever bloomed a hercoglossum.
