I keep going back and forth in my mind over Vavoom. Then again, I have no room for any more roses anyway !

Funny you should mention Cecile B. Last week, mine finally toppled the fence it was up against so it's going bye bye, unfortunately. It fell on top of the shed belonging to the people on the other side of the fence.
I almost feel like I'm commiting some kind of horticultural crime by removing it. The thing is massive and home to many many scrub jays as well as a possum who has lived in the thickest part of it for years.

When I remove it, will it send up suckers all over the place ? It was 24 years ago that I planted it so I don't remember if it's grafted or what.

I don't think it will sucker and I don't think it was grafted. It's one of the easiest roses to grow from cuttings, so I doubt that anyone ever bothered to graft it.

What will become of the poor possum?

Vavoom doesn't take up much room. It's only about 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide here. I personally wouldn't grow it again if something happened to it, but that's because I'm so jaded that I don't get excited by solid-color roses anymore. I like orange, but it has to be mixed with other colors to appeal to my taste.

Zuzu - hmm., maybe my DC is a mismark because it sends out single stemmed blooms like a HT, but almost no scent.

Are you sure, Toni? This photo seems to show two blooms and three buds on the same stem.

zuzu, blemished or not, those blooms are still a sight for sore eyes! That bloom of Dick Clark looks perfect- gorgeous! Lovey dubby

That was not the norm on that plant and thought was nice that multiple buds formed. But usually I get only 1 bloom. :/ Thinking about giving it away, I really don't like it & would rather have something more fun in it's spot.
