I only have two of Van Liere's creations

Just Teasing and Quiet Reflections. QR is a wonderful iris. A pale pink with a pink beard. So far it has shown no peach influence while growing in my garden. Everyone needs at least one true pink iris.

I would like to add Shelter From The Storm and Crooked Little Smile.
Thro' all the tumult and the strife I hear the music ringing; It finds an echo in my soul— How can I keep from singing?

Hi Sharon! I'm relatively new here, so I don't know if you've posted before...but just in case... Welcome! Glad to have you here! You have quite a nice list of Van Liere irises as does Tom above. I guess I'll have some looking up to do when I get time...there are quite a few I have never heard of before! Smiling

I'd love to have Mayan Mysteries at some point. I really enjoy walking thru Bob's gardens every spring. I guess I have to credit him with starting me on this iris kick. I was looking to find some way of occupying my extra time one Spring after a really bad divorce. There was an article in the Garden section of the Denver Post about "Iris Bob". So off I went one Saturday morning and I haven't been the same since! He's such a great guy always helpful.

Good to know, Susan. I see him posting on the Iris Lovers Facebook page sometimes. Took me a few minutes to make the connection between that person and the hybridizer. Smiling

He's a great guy to work with. Often sends you multiples of the ones you order, and he's very generous with bonuses. His iris seem to do very well here too.

Sharon - I suspect you have some amazing gardens, seeing your Van Liere list and also the other one you posted (was it Blyth?). Nice nice choices!

Great story about how you got started and the role Bob Van Liere played in it! Thumbs up Sorry you had to go through a terrible divorce Sad ...but glad Bob and the irises were there to help with the healing process! ...and look what it has led to, now every spring you get to enjoy all those incredible blooms! Hurray! Hurray!

Crown Him King is the only iris I've ever noticed with an edge only on the standards, kind of unique. It was in my bed that got hit very hard with rot, but it survived and is making a come back, even though it was a new plant the year before. I am hoping it blooms this spring, but it may not yet.

Sherry, I like the picture of your Silver Laced Wyandotte, do you still have her? I raise some Blue Laced Red Wyandottes.

Yes, Tom. She's my best layer. I've wanted to get some red-laced or blue-laced, but ended up getting 2 Ameraucanas to replace the ones the bobcat got. I also have a light Brahma. Got a light on the at night now... no eggs for a couple of months Glare

Celia, if you look on Van Liere's website, go to "News"... He's posting some of the new introductions there.

Tom, quite a few years ago a bobcat broke into my chicken coupe and killed all of my chickens. Glare I tore down the coupe years ago and now there are two iris beds there.
