I had two red huskers grown from seed but it appears they didn't make it. It was a very hard spring. I thought they were a hardy plant. I could try again and just blame it on the spring and be sure to mulch them well this fall.

Spring is passing much too quickly, and is much too dry. Here are a few blooms and one sun loving California girl.

Julia, that is Amber. Our speed demon. She looks quite relaxed in the photo, but is a racing terror. Think she is part Italian greyhound mixed with chihuahua. Loves playing tag with our Doberman.

Here's a surprise for me - a bunch of these turned up in this bed after I put down mulch this spring. Starry False Solomon's Seal. (that's a mouthful, isn't it?) I don't know if they were in the mulch or just decided to pop up out of the ground. The mulch is just chipped wood from our local tree-cutter-downer guy, but I've put it down several places and this is the only place these have turned up. (so far) They're native wildflowers in this area and I've seen them out in our woods down by the river, so maybe they just migrated. Unless they misbehave, they're welcome under this Catalpa tree if they can compete with the Joe Pye Weed.

I see some Calla lilies, columbine, Chives, wild corabells (?), some lavender, but what are the others? They are all so beautiful.

I love this primrose and wish I could find more. The winter planted seeds didn't come up.
Thumb of 2015-05-21/Jewell/dbc4c3. The nelly moser and blaze rose starts have grown into each other. Not as shocking a color contrast as last year. Am now wondering if the orange day lily will have blooms when either of these are blooming. Not a color combo I would have intentionally done Thumb of 2015-05-21/Jewell/13845d Thumb of 2015-05-21/Jewell/9691df

Duane, your delphiniums are lovely. You are way ahead of my garden. The astilbe aren't anywhere near blooming yet. I was too ruthless with weeding the foxglove starts last Summer and am missing the blooms now. Will need to be more careful this year. Very nice photos!

Beautiful. I am so envious. I only have a few early flowers that are not all that exciting. Arabis, Shooting Star, some anemone, primula, aubrieta. Guess that is about it.

Thanks for all the compliments- Thank You! --Those delphiniums have been there for 7 years. They keep coming up every year. I'd thought they would die out by now. They must like it there.

Mine (the 8' ones) came back but like everything else here very slowly. They are only about 6-12" tall right now. And I have a few dead spots along the fence that need replacing. I think all my paniculata phlox died like so much else here. All of your flowers are so gorgeous. I know envy is a sin, but..... Shrug! Sighing!
