We had some a couple of weeks ago that were new. I put out more feeders, but they didn't stay long. Mine are drab grey/brown. The visitors looked like they had shimmery green heads (from the distance). I'll keep the feeders out a while longer and look for your hummers!

Yes, the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird is what I have. Shimmery green heads and a red throat (when they display it). I gave them your address., BTW. Hilarious! If they've left here, it has only been in the last day or two.

They were not appreciated by my little stinkers. I think those hummers would rather starve than let another one near the feeder. That's why I put another one out on the side yard. They 're so territorial!

I went to multiple feeders myself. They also recommend that so that the females can get enough food. Glare

I've had quite a few kinds since migration started. The Black-chinned I know better, because a few stay over summer to nest. I think I've seen the Ruby-throated kind like you have in TN, but of course, I'm not good at ID's. The problem is that Texas just has so many kinds of hummers passing through. One of my visitors.

That would be so fascinating to see the migration pass through. Where is Medina Co, Linda?

It's just west of Bexar Co. (San Antonio's county). I think the hummers are more numerous on the coast, however. I'd like to go to the Rockport Hummingbird Festival sometime...I've seen these videos and I can't even imagine seeing that many at one time.

Oops, the second one was apparently in NE Texas!

Yea! For the Monarch activity! Nice cat picture Stephanie!
I have several in chrysalis now and brought in a new batch of eggs this last weekend. I am beginning to net and tag some adults since I don't have much time each day. Still have forty tags left....saving some for those I am raising but also not tagging the pale adults that won't make the Mexico trip.

I saw a Monarch yesterday...and another a couple of days before that. The cats I have are getting fairly big. Not long now!
