Hilarious! Hilarious! I lived on MD's eastern shore and in my little town there was a Hanover Foods factory and it was unpleasant when they were doing whatever with onions and garlic!

I think vinegar is better for removing water deposits than alcohol. Vinegar is useful for many things. But just for window/cleaning in general, I prefer the smell of alcohol for that brief second it's there. The smell of vinegar makes me want a pickle. Rolling on the floor laughing LOVE Malt Vinegar on my fish and chips. DH puts it on his broccoli. But he's an odd duck like that. Thumbs up

Carol, I don't know why it would not be suitable. It is not any kind of a solvent and it is non-abrasive.

Cheryl, I am using equal amounts of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol. I really think that all the rubbing alcohol does is make the solution evaporate more rapidly from floor surfaces. Typically, windows will be gone over with a dry cloth/paper anyway, so evaporation is not important there. Oh, perhaps the alcohol would also kill some bacteria/viruses on surfaces. I don't know whether it would remain long enough to do this though.

I haven't actually used this mixture but I think it would be great for the poly panels... I agree with everything Ken said.

One year I used the Windex outdoor window stuff on my house windows (which you hook to your hose to spray the outside windows) and ended up having to go over everything with pure vinegar to remove the hard-water spots... Blinking

I never really priced the vinegar/alcohol/water mixture, but I would guess that you can make a gallon for about the same price as a pint of the commercially-made stuff. That's pretty significant. Thumbs up

Welcome back to the thread, Michelle -- it really wasn't your fault for not finding your way back here; you had just recently joined ATP (I think) and none of us thought to give you a shout-out -- like this -- @MsAbstractor -- so you'd get a notification about the replies.

Did you get your greenhouse set up? and, assuming you did, how is it working out for you? Got photos?? I'm all ears! Smiling
