You can add things to your garland, like cranberries, orange peelings, organic cereals, ect. You can probably add things to that the birds would use to line nests with, the squirrels and mice will use that too. You can use things in your yard, nuts, acorns, twigs or leaves, seed pods from your plants ect. Food grade food coloring might stain your nut shells to a pretty color. Feathers would look nice too. or sea shells.

You could even add dog biscuits or cookies, whole grain organic breads, ect. Banana peelings maybe? The birds would like that for a treat.
