Hi folks! I'm a native Floridian but I will admit I'm not much of a Caladium person. They're nice, you know, in other peoples' yards. I'm more of a butterfly gardener so if a butterfly or caterpillar won't eat it, what's the point of having it in my garden? Hilarious!

I know it's early but I wanted to remind everyone that Lake Placid, Florida holds its annual Caladium Festival July 24-26, 2015. It's become a really big deal. I'm over in the Tampa area and we get tons of ads for it. Since I know many people have to plan their vacations well in advance, I thought I'd give you guys plenty of time to plan accordingly. Here's a link to the website: http://www.lpfla.com/caladium....

They've got the dates up for 2015 but not too much info, yet. But you can always look at last year's info and photos and get an idea of what it's like. Even if you can't attend, have fun just looking at the pictures! If you do go, there's plenty of other fun gardening activities to enjoy around Florida so feel free to ask if you plan on making a visit!

Thanks for that link, I did not know some of those varieties were bred for containers. None of mine are grown in containers, but I have some of the ones listed. So I will look for landscape type varieties. I also liked the idea of growing some for cooler climates, not that it is all that cool here, but the winter temps. here are much colder than south Florida.

Glad to be of help! And for those interested, keep an eye on the website as I'm sure they'll be adding more information as the event gets closer.
