No, You can use your oven, You can just wipe it down. No special oven unless you just want one just for clay. I bake mine at 275 for each quarter inch of thickness. I have baked a lot of clay in my oven. It does have a slight smell, don't be surprized. You will love the pasta maker but only use it for clay. It conditions the clay , the clay needs to be conditioned before making into craft/ It mingles the plastics togeter in it so your pieces does what it is meant too. There are several good books out and you can go on Youtube and get free tutorials. I love free!!!!! I'll see if I can get you a link....

I am Rolling on the floor laughing because Charleen didn't think this was Garden Art. I love the dragon and the lizard she made you, Chris!!! So adorable!!!

Charlene, do I have to buy the pasta maker or can this be done in a less expensive way? I could look for one at Goodwill.

A lot of kneading. You only want a pasta machine if you plan on doing a lot, That's what I read. I got one cause my hands are getting weaker in my old age. I have gone thru two. I tried to make to big a piece go thru. I'll be needing a third before too long but I'll run this one til it won't run any more. Poor thing has done a lot of clay.....

Has anyone used a toaster oven for doing clay, etc. I've never played with it and sometimes I see sales and prices are pretty cheap then.

If I don't stop adding forums to watch I will be here all day. So much to see and so little time.

Ohh, Pegi, a toaster oven would be smart. Huh, Charleen? Will it?

Yes, as long as you can keep the temperature constant. You don't want it too hot. I'll find you a link on ovens for clay...
