Sounds like a wonderful place to live Neal! All we get is possums, skunks, ground squirrels, gophers, blue jays, ravens, and stray cats. Once in awhile we get to see the Red Tailed Hawks flying overhead, and we have a lot of smaller birds.

I just did a round-up of a large bag full of snails in the backyard yesterday. It probably barely made a dent in the population...but I have to do something! Glare Grumbling

We have an occasional deer, racoon & possum visit. The ones I enjoy most are the quails & turkeys. This is from July 10th this summer when they took a leisurely stroll through the veggie garden. There were three mothers with at least six babies each. The photo was from a rear window to avoid scaring them off. They eventually disappeared into the corn field beyond the garden. No harm done.

My condolences too for the fawn & Rob! Sad
And Neal, I still get teary-eyed whenever I watch 'The Yearling': So sad! Sad

I'll just say I'm definitely NOT 'so inclined' Daphne! Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious! If my dog would leave them alone I think getting chickens would be a great solution! Unfortunately the chickens wouldn't last a day! Thumbs down

My chickens don't particularly like slugs and snails... but something must... because I've never had a really bad problem with them.. Maybe the lizards eat them.. Lord knows I've got a lot of them running around.

Leon, it was good that you wished those turkeys into the cornfield.... Whistling (pretty cute youngsters)

When my domestic turkeys were allowed to roam, I spotted them in the garden and it looked like they were eating my basil, but upon closer inspection, they were eating the Japanese beetles off the basil. So I just left them alone.

Sorry Rob about the loss your fawn and Turk.

I have mostly well fed pet cats around here hunting the small birds. Occasional loose pet dogs. The ground squirrel that was eating tulips last fall and pulling up newly planted irises for the bonemeal appears to be gone(bubble gum).

Isn't it great to have some rain, Barb? Hurray!

(I wonder why the hurray symbol always comes up in the blue box with a question mark? - the others work just fine.)

AURORA WATCH RED ALERT

For anyone in the north, I have received an aurora watch red alert, saying that tonight aurora will be visible by eye and by camera from anywhere in the UK. Sadly I'm still in France - but some of you might benefit. You need to be somewhere without light pollution.

Hope someone catches it!

Glad you are getting the rain Jan, We are getting a bunch today that I wish you were getting. I hate the cold rain this time of the year.

The garden helper who did a lot in four hours last week, has fit me into her schedule.
Once or twice a month. Smiling I'm back working in the pottery studio.
