I only have one 'R'. It came from way up north very late last year. It was a good sized chunk of daylily, but appeared to have already gone dormant. No green fans. I planted it and by the end of the week had green fans everywhere. Within three weeks it had matched any daylily growing and exceeded a lot of them. When the first freeze came, it folded up to nothing. Provided the weird circumstance of going dormant twice didn't affect it, I expect to see it bloom. I've never had one grow that fast before. From the ATP database:

"R" must be for red...lots of pretty ones posted! Red Volunteer was one of the first daylilies I purchased, nice image.

Haven't seen the super branching yet, but it is a favorite for the bright, clean saturated red blooms.

Super small double, nice plant!

One of several early purple sculpted relief forms.

Great northern performer and parent.

Anyone remember the B-52's? Smiling

Cute pink with curly-q blooms.

A real pretty, but strange pattern with several looks.

What did you mean with Rainbow Eyes scape blasting?

Scape blast is when a scape bursts open and looks like a blown up firecracker. It is from internal pressure that has built up due to irregular watering or over watering or a lot of rain following drought. I have only seen it on Rainbow Eyes in my garden.

The first picture shows the dried edges of a scape on Rainbow Eyes, but the buds are still opening up while laying on the ground. The second picture shows two scapes of Rainbow Eyes after scape blast. Since the scape blast happened early on in the development, these buds did not make it.

Wow Vickie. I had a stalk on an Agapanthus do exactly what is showing in your second photo. The stalk looped around and just exploded. It did go on to bloom but the stalk was a lot thicker than a daylily stalk. The bloom was way down in the foliage. I had assumed it was due to the stress of being transplanted not too long before the stalk emerged. Later stalks grew normally. I'm still trying to learn what the plant likes so I'll watch for this effect. And on the daylilies!

Roman Cohort looks like it would be a nice one to have. Very pretty and reported to have 35 buds/4 branches.
