My first wildflower of 2015! It is sweet alyssum. I dont remember ever buying these seeds, or having them included in a regional mix. So, they must be truly "wild".
Mine's scrappy looking compared to what its supposed to look like in the seed catalogs. Or even in ATP database. I didnt put mine in the database as it looks pathetic compared to the other gardeners pictures.
I would feel more optimistic about a bright future for man if he spent less time proving that he can outwit Nature and more time tasting her sweetness and respecting her seniority. E. B.White

I came across this on my property the other day. I have never seen it before and then spotted two growing on the road to our place. It has leaves that are shaped kind of like a bluebonnet and at first glance before I got up close I thought it was a purple bluebonnet. Any ideas?
Yep that is it! It is a really pretty little thing. Great to know what it is. Thank you Josephine. It is the second purple flower that I have seen this year that is new to me. We have lived out here for 3 1/2 years and I am always seeing new things.
