Shelf probably should be SELF. I would bet that is a wrong spelling.
By the way, Spode is not yellow but pink.

Cindy,

I think that was Larry's question. All the photos in the database indicate a pink toned bloom without exception. But the official AHS description is:

Color: deep clear yellow self with green throat

An indication the plant being distributed as 'Spode' isn't the one that was registered under that name or there was a mistake in the registration description. Isn't it the case where the hybridizer has to make a correction if it's recorded in the registration incorrectly? Or can AHS make a correction?

The hybridizer is supposed to make the correction but if the hybridizer has passed, that isn't always possible. I had that happen to me with the daylily HIGHLAND TOWER. The AHS has it listed as a diploid when in fact it is tetraploid. The hybridizer is no longer with us and I don't know if AHS ever changed it.

According to the database, no correction has been made. That makes exchanges such as this one have value. They are sort of a written record that clarify things if they are found. Really, this is the kind of information that should be added as notation to the entry even if it's not officially corrected. The photos themselves in the database are saying volumes about 'Spode' in contrast to the registration description.

I added a note saying it was not yellow but that it was pink.

Regarding the daylily 'Spode,' I mentioned this to the two committee chairs that help with DB corrections while at the MWS this past weekend. Janice Wood has let me know after checking, that the original paper checklist lists 'Spode' as 'pale pink self with yellow throat.' That error apparently happened when the paper checklists were transposed to electronic format. She has it on the list for the next batch of corrections that will go to the Registrar. So it won't appear for a while ( since the last DB upload was just a couple of weeks ago) but should appear the next time the DB is uploaded.
Thanks for calling this to everyone's attention.

@Seedfork Smiling

When the registrar makes the correction in the AHS checklist, will the update be automatic here in the ATP database or are corrections done manually?

Donald, found your question while planning to add a few images to this thread. The ATP database color description has been updated, but the AHS description apparently has not. It still reads "deep clear yellow self with green throat". I checked it twice, once using the ATP link to the AHS database and then by going directly to the AHS database.

I didn't have as many new plants added to the garden last year as I have in the past, but did find 3 "S" named ones that can be added to this thread.

Serendipitous Twist, looking forward to seeing this one in 2016 now that it has settled in.

Sinister Variations, not the best image but the only one I took this first year blooming.

and System of Edges. Although I made seeds with SOE this year I somehow missed getting and image. The image is one I took at Curt's in 2013 before SOE was registered.

Somehow this didn't get done in the AHS, though @Char pointed out the DB here on ATP has now been corrected. Shouldn't an update have occurred by now? Just wondering.

Slap and Tickle, pretty daylily. Paul has such a unique, fun personality.

Yes, Donald I would think it should have been corrected by now. The AHS database has been updated several times since this time last year, not sure what happened. Shrug!

That makes me wonder if the corrections are handled differently than the original information, and if the corrections are being added to the database at all. Anyone have any other examples of recent AHS corrections, that could be checked against the ATP database.
