This past spring we noticed tall corn growing under the bird feeder and decided to let it grow to see what it would do.
I do not have a picture, but those messy birds planted some neat Broom Corn, in the fall the pearls that looked like
corn turned different colors and the plants were about 4-5 feet tall, and the birds were clinging and feasting on them
in the fall/ You could if a creative person cut them and hang them upside down to dry and make wreaths. Anyway I
am thinking about trying to get some going next season, but way down at the back of the yard by the fence since they
get so tall, I was reading about Broom Corn and read it is a new popular trend. freedombelle

Welcome!
I have grown broom corn, just as a decorative plant in the garden.
Birds do love it.

That surprises me -- I always have sunflowers coming up everywhere from the bird feeders!

Wow! Wish that was true here! I planted some sunflower seeds Ibought in a packet, ONE finally bloomed, but way late in the season as I
think I planted them too late.

Shoot, I hate when that happens! The birds here scatter so much seed around that the sunflowers sprout up everywhere; usually I'll just dig up a few of the sprouts and put them where I want them. I had some really cool branching ones last summer, with lots of flowers on each plant. Maybe try winter sowing some seeds... get a milk jug or something similar (I use kitty litter jugs because I have lots of them), make some drainage holes in the bottom, cut it so the bottom part is 3-4" deep, add some potting soil, plant and water your seeds, tape the jug back together with some duct tape, leave the cap off, and put it outside in the shade somewhere to do its own thing. Check it every now and then and you should get plenty of sunflower seedlings to grow! Smiling

Wowee, I sure will! I too have many cat litter jugs since I have 3 cats! And last time the one and only plant I got was in a shady area and I
imagine sun would of been better?
