White Stargazer is beautiful! I planted a whole row of them 4 years ago. My granddaughter, then 5, cut every single flower for a bouquet. After that we had a talk, and she is now good in the garden, but she sure was proud of that bouquet. And she cut really long stems. A few did come back, but I just ordered more.

They do, and I got to smell them before she hits here tomorrow, and cuts.

Since she will be cutting them tomorrow, I will give my spiel on removing pollen stains from clothing:

1. Do not try to brush or rub it off.

2. Press tape straight down on pollen spot, then pull up. Repeat with fresh piece of tape until most of the stain has been removed.

3. For any remaining stain, place clothing in sun (sun angle should be as direct as possible). It usually takes but 20 or 30 minutes to remove the stain. Sometimes it is just as effective to place in the sun first. For me it seems to vary with the pollen.

4. For my skin (hands usually) I wash with regular bar of soap to get rid of as much as I can, then use rubbing alcohol. The dye in the stain is soluble in the alcohol.

All of my orientals have bloomed, (I think). Well, except for rubrums.

Also from B&D, Papilio:

Really, one of my favorites, Judith Freeman's Summer's End strain:

I must say I am a bit disappointed with Papilio. It really doesn't look like the photo on the B&D site. It seems to lack a lot of the yellow that originally caught my attention. I'll evaluate again in a couple of days as the blooms age... In the meantime the peanut gallery may feel free to pipe in with an opinion.

Peanut gallery here. I think it's pretty. I don't think it is nearly as pretty as the one in the catalogue, however it surely seems to be the same lily.

Well, I looked more closely and the picture from the web site shows a GREEN stigma and my lily has a grayish violet stigma. I went out and looked again and there was nothing (like pollen) covering the stigma. I think that should settle it. Also, the B&D photo shows the sepals in particular to be much more wavey. Sad

I'm sure my neighbors think I am crazy. I am always going out there and looking at stuff like some kind of a nut case. And sometimes I go out and look at the same thing several times because I'm always thinking of some other detail to examine.
