Finally DD took cuttings from my new varieties.
I chose not to take cuttings this year and the last 3 nights have been very cold for tropicals, below 50* She also took some to DD #3.
I am mixed with feelings of sadness to see this season end and relief that the oppresive hot weather is over.

This gardening season seems like it was so short to me this year. Probably because I didn't venture outside much when it started getting so hot. I, too, am sorry to see things starting to wind down, but like everyone else, so happy that the heat is going away.

I rooted the cuttings Sidney so graciously sent to me (I'm sending her some garden art in return when she gets home). I planted some and they still look wonderful. I just snipped off the tops and rooted those too.

The original rooted ones are gorgeous and I'm allowing them to live in jars.

My computer is at my gurus house while he vacations in Hawaii but once I get it back, I'll post photos!

I root my coleus cuttings in a glass of water. When they've developed 1" roots I plant them in potting soil. The trick is to never let them dry out.

I do it both ways.I probably do more in little bottles of water than in pots of soil.I might try some smaller cuttings in 6 pack containers this year.Oh,if the roots get too long in water,I just cut them off to about half inch or so.
