The red one is Hibiscus martianus, also known as Hibiscus cardiophyllus....definitely not rock rose... I have two of those...a white, Pavonia hastata... and a pink, Pavonia lasiopelata ( I think)

Linda, that's a gorgeous yellow....hadn't seen one like it...

The salvia I need id on is going to bloom again tomorrow. the grasshoppers are getting so bad, they eat the blooms as soon as they open.... I'll try to get pic in morning....

I'll gather some more for you, mamajack. Send me your address and I'm mail 'em. And I'd love to try the purple poppies. Haven't had great success with poppies.

I tried to get a pic of my salvia that I'd like ID'd. The grasshoppers have stripped the flowers and buds over night. This is war!!!

Sending the seeds this morning before I forget. Also sending some Limelight 4 o' clocks seeds. They grow fast. I was given them at a swap in Louisiana a couple of years ago. They make "bushes!" Die back in winter, but always come back bigger.

Maybe someone else can give you better growing info. I just poke them into the ground, give them a little water, and they come up.... I don't soak them, but I guess you could. Try some now, I think they'll come up. If they do, they'll come back next spring. If they don't, I'll send you more seeds and you can plant them in March...

Barb, the Velvetleaf Mallow isn't hard to start...judging by the volunteers that come up. It could be somewhat invasive in fertile soil and enough water, most likely. If you want seeds, I'll check for them.

Not sure what that is, Barb. I had one abutilon with reddish flowers, but I think it bit the dust last winter. The flowers on my mallow are not so small. Bees and butterflies like it. I'm wanting summer to end. Summer in Texas just seems to last too long!
