Last year, we had the Periodical Cicadas. I don't remember the dog eating any, but oh, the wild birds were having a feast. We also learned squirrels ate them. We get maybe one or two squirrels a year. And one came during the height of the cicadas, much to its distress. Several nesting birds dive-bombed it and it held up its long tail as a shield trying to eat a few. It didn't come back the next day.

Dogs, there is a dragonfly badge if you want one. I have one to represent my farm pond, having read that dragonflies signify good pond health. There is another pond badge which is a water lily, but that doesn't resonate with me.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.
