I've been in the art field all of my life in one way or another but it sure doesn't mean I have all the answers....but I'll betcha someone here will!

Ask away... Hurray!

I have one for you so here goes:

I imagine the main reason for making your own garden art is to have something different. That being said, I'm just wondering about the cost of the materials to make some of these projects not to mention the time involved. It seems that you would have to make more than one project in order to use up the different materials and to make the projects cost effective. Am I correct?.

Hi Mau, for the cement/Quikwall projects, cement comes in 90 lb. bags and takes quite a few projects to use it up, but the cost is only about $9.00 a bag. Quikwall comes in 40 lbs. bags but still makes quite a few projects and costs about $16.00. So either way, that's not too expensive. The expense comes in the chicken wire, hardware cloth, PVC pipe, styrofoam, etc. I already had quite a bit of that kind of stuff around from other projects so that helped. I used to make a ton of this stuff and had garden art sales at my house every summer. But that got to be way too much work so I quit. Rolling on the floor laughing You could always grab a friend and split the costs. It's fun working with somebody else too.

Thanks, Chris! The cost of the Quikwall is certainly not as much as I thought it might be and I'm sure chicken wire isn't all that expensive, either. Hilarious! All in all in sounds like I could make some garden art without too much expense. As far as time is concerned, I have plenty of that! Smiling Thanks again!.

Happy to have Marilyn here with us! HAPPY DANCE! Hurray!

Thanks Chris for your answer!

Sometimes my garden art costs me nothing. It might be junk from the garage or a 25cent item from a garage sale that I paint. The paint is all left overs from my business...so to me, it's free! Whistling

This gives me an idea to maybe share what things cost us to make if we are able to figure it out. Hilarious!

Once you get the supples like molds, you take care of them and they can be used over and over. I love that...

This is great Becky. I know I had a question or 10, but I also just had a senior moment, so I forgot what it was. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing At least I have a wonderful place to ask.

Hi marsue, so glad you are here. I have found, that since I've started doing these little projects, I am able to make use of the things that I have had around the house and shop and just knew I would find a purpose for them. It's great being able to use them for something and my shelves are starting to empty, so I'll have place for the new stuff I want. Whistling

Going to check out the contest Becky.

Is there a thread that teaches the basics of working with polymer clay? I would love to learn how to use it, if I need one of those machines that flatten it, and how to make miniature garden furniture with it, (for my succulent planters). Oh yes, and where to buy it.

I have all these white ceramic tiles we took off our kitchen counter. I need to know what kind of paint I can use on them. Also I won't throw away the damaged ones, I know they can be used for mosaic. Glad I found this forum again, I hadn't marked it "watch" before. I'll probably have a lot more questions, but those senior moments do come quite often. Hilarious!
