Chris, thanks for the info on Behr Wet Look Sealer! I tip my hat to you. I've always used Seal Krete http://www.sealkrete.com/origi... but not crazy about the glossy finish. After checking out Behr's site it looks like they have a "low lustre" product that I might be happier with for my projects. Big Grin I've been applying the Seal Krete and then spraying with Krylon Flat Finish - not only will this save me a step but will probably save me some money too! Thumbs up

Haven't heard of Seal Krete - have to check it out. But I've been really happy with the Behr. I have painted concrete projects that have been outside for several years and still look great.

I bet it would help my ponds too. I may have to get me some. But I am going to get the Behr for my polycreations...

I didn't read the specs on the Behr products, do they penetrate the concrete? The main reason I chose the Seal Krete is because it was what was available at Sherwin Williams locally - closest Home Depot is 40 miles away. We do have a Lowes but I don't think they carry Behr products? Confused When I described to the salesman at SW what I was looking for he told me all the brick masons in the area use Seal Krete, because it penetrates the concrete/brick it actually forms a stronger bond. However, the ONE lesson I learned the hard way is it's NOT waterproof, only water resistant. I used it on the inside of my hollow concrete sphere and when I added water the dark green interior turned milky where the water is. Thumbs down It's perfect for most projects but won't work for anything "submerged". Sad

Debbie, I've never tried Behr on plain concrete so I don't know if it would penetrate it or not. Maybe their website says. Behr is not waterproof either, just water resistant. I'm not aware of a sealer available that will waterproof painted concrete. Maybe somebody else knows of one? Anybody? That's why I don't paint my concrete/QW birdbaths.

Someday I will share this entire garden art backyard...but for now, I wanted to tell you that I used exterior paints on this project and that was 8 years ago! The clients had me refresh the colors after 5 years. (the HOT Arizona sun was beating down and it faded a little....) The faded look was actually really cool looking...but it was more work for me.

What my point is Rolling on the floor laughing tells us that sometimes a sealer isn't needed if you use exterior paint. On my curb art projects, I don't seal. So I'm wondering if you can paint the birdbaths and not use sealer.

That is beautiful Becky and good to know but to answer your question Chris, yes, concrete sealer is available at places like HD and Lowes.

That said, I'm not sure that it is meant to seal paint. Just protect the concrete sort of like asphalt sealer protects the asphalt.

What about the kind of paint used on pools?
I have no idea what that is, but wouldn't that work for areas that would hold water; not so much for decorative work, but for interiors, like Debbie's sphere? (Which is beautiful, btw!)
