I have a holly tree that has weeds under it. I would like to mulch it with cedar mulch and plant daff bulbs around the drip line. Will the bulbs do ok that way? The tree gets a lot of south sun under it and is limbed up so I think they should get plenty of sun.

As long as the mulch is not too thick, that should be fine. If you put cardboard under the mulch, overlapping generously, your results would be even better, preventing any existing seeds in the area from being able to grow (as long as the Daffs aren't already there, I wouldn't put cardboard over them.)

ok, great, just wasn't sure about the cedar part, I have used mulch over daffs before but it was just a hardwood mixture.

They will be fine. I've used a variety of mulching materials with Daffs, sometimes quite thick, and they pop through with no problem. I knew someone who put in a blacktop driveway and the next spring had a crack develop, followed by Daffodils popping through!
