This little reddish pink salvia is growing under a rose bush. I remember planting it, but don't know what it is. I may have gotten it at the Louisiana swap a few yrs ago. I've taken photo after photo and they've all been fuzzy. This is as good as it gets, I guess... First pic is bloom and 2nd is leaf structure. Anyone have an idea what it could be?

I think I might know that one. To me, it looks like Ragin' Cajun Ruellia. I've had two different varieties of that, but the one that Lee gave me is the one I have now. Ring a bell for you?

I think that's it. The blooming habit is the same....only the grasshoppers clean mine before the entire stalk blooms.
Ruellia, huh? No wonder I couldn't find it in salvia photos.
Thanks for ID. I'm going to move it...

Sandi, just noticed that I called you by the wrong name. Senior moment...sorry. I know that plant is cold-hardy, because it survived last winter! I've been thinking about propagating mine...cuttings, maybe.

Not a problem! Appreciate the quick response. I read the Plant delight description. I don't think mine ever got taller than a foot or two! It's in a raised bed with lots of other stuff, so may have a crowding problem.....and it's near the limestone wall. Gonna move it.

Mine isn't that tall either. There is more than one variety to Ragin' Cajun...maybe that's a taller kind.
