but.....that does give me an idea...a garden art swap at Christmas...somehow, some way....

Our dump is called convenience center - It's still the dump

But it's clean and organized like yours. And bins for everything - furniture, cardboard, glass, plastic, newspapers. aluminum cans. They even have a sheltered building for swaps.

No crushed glass though

Maybe you just have to ask them to recycle the glass...over and over. Here we have a bulk pickup day. You'll see people with trucks and trailers riding thru the neighborhoods taking furniture, old appliances, anything they can resell before the garbage trucks get to it. We have recycle bins that go out on pickup day that we use to separate our glass, cardboard, newspaper,etc in.

There's another recycle center is for old paint, pesticides, etc. So you can drive around all week, throwing stuff away!

We don't have trash pick up here

There are several convenience centers - dumps - all over the county, the state for that matter and you have to take your trash. It's added in to your property tax. I feel sorry for folks that don't have trucks.

I have never been to a dump. My life isn't complete.

Warning: Don't tell your children you went to the dump. DD is in Breckenridge with family and friends. Told her we went to breakfast and then to the dump....and she texted: Nice
I want you to Google TDS, which is the dump in Creedmoor, TX where I first used to get the glass mulch. It's Texas Disposal Systems. Shortly after I started going there for soils, our MG group was invited to spend an evening there touring the facility.
They had had lots of resistance from the locals when they wanted to put the "dump" there. They tried to put in a golf course in conjunction with the landfill at first, I believe. The locals screamed it down. Soooo they decided to make it a wildlife refuge. You've not seen a dump like this one. Giraffes, elk, zebras, wildlife, you get it, wandering all around the facility. We had dinner in the lodge there, and then loaded onto buses. They took us thru the facility's grounds. We'd stop to let the wildlife cross the roads, take photos, and then on to the next areas. And guess what? It didn't "smell."

I had friends in Breckenridge...my family is from Albany and Dallas! My Mama and Daddy "made" me in Texas!

I've paraticipated in quite a few swaps so a garden art swap sounds great to me. I suppose that would fall within the parameters of this gardening website. Don't you think?

Tee, cute house rock and your Joy rock too. I lvoe painting on rocks. I'll have to find a nice one and we can paint one together...I can do a step by step. I used to teach rock painting at summer camps for kids.

So what are your thoughts for a holiday/Christmas garden art swap? Inquiring minds want to know.
