Finally got caught up on a few projects this weekend....

"E" was interesting, the first thing that popped into my head was Everybody Loves Earnest. A nice mini that I've been meaning to add to the garden for several years.


The Edge No Eye pattern in daylilies is not one I see up my way very often. Last year I added Willow Dean Smith to the garden and would like to find more that do well in the north.


The last one is Evergreen. A few of my favorites that have been hardy and growing well in the garden for a number of years are...

"E" for me would be Evergreen, I am slowly (for now) moving to more Evergreen plants.

Spanish Sketch is one of the top Evergreens on my want list.

Extra Large Diameter - described by AHS as: "A daylily cultivar which has been registered with a bloom size of 7 inches or greater but which is not registered in a specific form category (double, spider, unusual form, polymerous, sculpted) by the hybridizer."

With that description, I have many that have blooms 6.0-6.5 inches and a few that are 7 or more, but most are listed in a specific form category (i.e., Back Scratcher, Lady Neva, Give Me Eight, Ruby Spider, and a few others).

Here are a few that I have that do not have any of the specific forms listed, so maybe these fall into the "Extra Large Diameter" category.

For me E would be extra early,early and extra late bloom since I live in the north with short summers. I like to cover all the bloom periods from extra early thru extra late to have a longer bloom season. A few of my extra early season are Early Shirley, Fern Stone and Stella's Ruffled Fingers.

I sure would like some extra, extra earlies this year. They can't bloom fast enough it seems

Nice images kid, I have Greek Effect written on my want list and couldn't remember why or what it looked like...has a star next to it now! Must be someone showed it during bloom season last year.

Extra large and early

on Edge no Eyes daylilies. I like that look better than most daylilies with both edges AND eyes, to be honest.

I just saw my first bloom on my plant of 'Willow Dean Smith' last year. Also on 'Pacific Shamrock'.

for EMO's. Thought of that one as I was getting into bed last night. Love seeing the EMO's when I hop out of bed during bloom season at 5:30 - 6 in the morning!!!

I don't know off hand what EMO's I have, but I know it is very nice to go out at 6am and see what's open before I have to go to work. After I get home at 4:30pm, sometimes the sun has really washed some of the daylilies out and the pictures just aren't very nice. Retirement in a couple of years will change all that

What about edible? I think some of the species dl are?

I've been known to eat a few daylily petals
