This is one of my older orchids and I just split it into three (maybe 4) plants. I've been caling it by the thread name but can't seem to find it anywhere else. My other label says Blc Ellen Kobayashi. I'd like to get this right but forget how to check the great DB of orchids in the sky. .

Fred,
there is Blc Ellen Kobayashi.

and there is Erin Kobayashi
http://apps.rhs.org.uk/horticu...

I don't know if it helps, but a search shows your post in December 2008 (?) on Ellen Kobayashi on Daves Garden. I am not a member so I can't see it.
Your post: "I'm just fascinated by my giant Blc Ellen Kobayashi. I had to take a better shot with a dark background to bring the colors out and save for my picture ..."

You also posted on Daves Garden in January 2009
"is named Blc Erin Kobayashi "Ellen" shown here. Can't always trust the labels they come with. Fred. "

Hopefully you can sort it out....

Ursula, my own postings were the only thing I could find listing a Blc. Erin Kobayashi 'Ellen'. I pressume I must have made a mistake back then. I could not have manufactured 'Ellen' out of nothing and the plant must be Blc. Ellen Kobayashi which is one of the two labels I had in the pot. I probably went through this excercise once before. Smiling I probably searched for kobayashi and found Ellen. I last divided this plant in January of 2008 and have no idea when I purchased the original. I had a heck of a time getting it out of a large plastic pot and had to destroy the thing to get it out. There were also some ferns in the pot and root system.

So Blc. Ellen Kobayashi it is.

I can't get into DG either as I also let my membership drop.

PS darn that was a hell of a way to lose the world cup.

AWW, I haven't had the TV on yet today. I'm sorry they didn't win. Lord knows we could use some GOOD publicity for a change!
