I love your lizards Charlotte and Suga. Too splendid!

Here's another critter that I enjoy watching, the Texas Spotted Whiptail. These little rascals can move fast!

I'm seeing a bunch of different lizards here in Florida lately - I grew up here, so it used to be mainly plain brown and green ones Whistling Now I'm more crested lizards. Wonder if they're hybrids of some sort? They catch your eye, whatever they are.

Charlotte, your Texas Spotted Whiptail like so similar to our group of skinks Ctenotus: in pattern and colour! And they are as fast as lightning too.

That's true Gleni. The whiptails provide me with a lot of exercise! Hilarious!

Just kidding Hilarious! this is not a Texas lizard. This one lives in Mexico, though I'd love to have an iguana in my yard.

Yikes, that looks huge! Iguanas have become established in South Florida, although they are an introduced species and not native. Here's an interesting read from Univ of Florida - https://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/in52... They will eat your plants, including hibiscus, bougainvillea, roses, orchids, and most fruits and flowers.

What a great article; thanks for the link. On second thought, maybe I DON'T want an iguana in my yard! (I'm already dealing with deer which are highly destructive). Most interesting tidbit from the article is that people actually EAT iguanas and consider them a delicacy.......who knew????

I keep hoping to see other folks post lizard photos here.....but I'm willing to keep the thread going.
Lizard Photo of the Day:
Mediterranean Gecko. This small lizard can be seen most summer nights clinging to the window screens with their sticky toe pads waiting for moths drawn to the light. Easy meals. They also like to come indoors, which means I have to capture them and throw them back outside. They are now listed on the Texas Invasive's site, but they're not as numerous here in the Hill Country as they are in Houston. When I sit in the rocker on the front porch at night, I can hear them 'chirp'. Others may have crickets; I have chirping lizards. Big Grin

I'm beginning to feel like the Lizard Lady.
Imagine my surprise when I wandered over to smell the Texas Mountain Laurel and discovered that the Texas Spiny Swift had the same idea. (Lot of Texas in that sentence). Actually, the lizard was probably just after a bug...

I really like those lizards.

That's a neat looking lizard. Looks like you'd need some heavy gloves to catch one of those.

When I was young, growing up in So Florida many moons ago, the cool/gross/kid thing was to catch the plain brown anoles, touch their snouts so they'd open their mouth, then let them "bite" down on your earlobes. They don't have teeth, so it didn't hurt, but it was really creepy to wear lizard earrings Hilarious!

I could never do it, didn't want lizards falling on my shoulders if they got tired Whistling

So Ann (flaflwgrl) put fireflies in her hair and you hung lizards from your earlobes....
I'm starting to think this website has some strange people......
