Wow. I love your greenhouse Ursula. Ken we don't have a closing date yet but I suspect no more than 3 weeks. The weather is so unpredictable down here in early spring. It will be 80 one day and 30 the next which is exactly what it has done this week. I've got two decent sized bifurcatums with 4 or 5 pups each attached that I'm not really worried about. I have a superbum that I've had for about 3 years I guess. It's probably more resilient than I think. There are 3 elephantotis, 2 of which I just mounted out of their 4 inch pots and one very small ridleyi that I also recently mounted. I think my fear is more about them sitting in the dry house while we get the greenhouse set up at the new place. We'll be setting up the one we have now temporarily. If the weather is warm, I'd feel better about them hanging out in the barn or the carport while we get things situated. I'm probably just over thinking it all. It's my worst habit.

I certainly understand about the uncertainly of our weather down here during the early spring. My saying is: "If you don't like the weather today, wait until tomorrow. It will be different but not necessarily better".

I buy my bifurcatum as plug plants (have 98 waiting for warmer weather to ship in fact) and have gone completely to the Netherland subv. Those I will mount and sell.

My personal plants include the P. mauno loa, P. Mickey's rainbow, and P. veitchii lemoinei. Just mist your plants every other day, keep them warm, and they'll be fine.

That set up is so cool, which way is south?

I forgot to mention that since I made the improvements on my GH and added the solar blanket, my night temps are 10*F higher at night.

Thanks Ken. I'm going to have to Google Mickey's rainbow and the mauno loa. I bought the small elephantotis because it was there and it was a good price. I didn't realize until it was delivered that there were two of them in the little pot...back to back. So that made it a REALLY good price Hurray! The ridleyi, I just never see for sale so when I saw it, I couldn't resist. Ebay is going to be my financial destruction.

@drdawg, Ken, I am sorry, yes I do owe you the double glass panel specs.
I just came home and I pulled out my greenhouse folder from 2001.
Now I would have to go and compare what this means on Florian's website, but the description reads as follows:
All glass to be insulated heat repellent 4.7
Makes sense?

I just looked at the Florian Website, I am not sure how this translates to nowaday's description, but 14 years ago it was if I remember correctly, the second best available. We thought the triple pane was overkill and I was looking for enough light to grow sun loving Orchids, yet protect from high heat and cold.

Which way faces South?
The wall over the garage door faces South! The back door to the deck, not visible in the picture above faces North. All around it gets lots of sun!

Florian does not show "heat repellent coefficient", so I don't know what you have. They show "Shading Coefficient", "Relative Heat Gain", "Visible Light Trans", and % UV Trans". I can contact Florian with what you have and I am sure they can translate that for me.

Thanks.

@ursula Your sunroom is FABulous, dahhhhling! Hurray! Good job!!

This Southern Transplant is sick of this cold. SICK of it I tell ya! I went to work and had 1 day in Hawaii. Just one work day. I wish they would have put me to work there a little longer?! I thawed out some but came right back to freezing or near-freezing temps. Maybe it's time to move south to Brownsville?? And yes, I would take my greenhouse with me! Thumbs up

Not quite greenhouse related, but another reason I am glad to live in the south.

Our super-duper mailman delivered all my next-door neighbor's mail to me. Seeing every piece of mail was meant for them, and being a good neighbor, I walked out the front door and then down the grassy slope to the street to deliver his mail. I never made it to the street. I have a wet butt. I should have made one of those snow-angels while on my back! I just hope the neighbors didn't see me making a fool of myself. Sighing!

Finally! A sunny but cool day. Three windows and the door to the Gh are open. It's 71ยบ inside. Some of my ferns and other plants close to the sunny side are sun burned. If the temps don't even out soon, they will all be on the ground as most of my plants are shade lovers. Good news though, adeniums have sprouted and coming out of dormancy. The orange NOID plumeria has 3 new buds. It never went dormant in the GH. Thumbs up
