@bubbles no snowman pictures yet -- we did have ice melting off the roof the other day. Temps have sure dropped today -- gone is the nice warm sun -- cranking up the heater in the GH Smiling

@bubbles some friends had it over in Florence - they posted a pic on FB. A pretty white skiff all over the hills.

@Ecscuba I haven't turned the heater off in the GHs yet. The outside temp dropped a couple of degrees since we've been up. We need to pick up new computer out in Bee Cave this morning. Hills and curves all the way. Not excited about getting stuck on icy road coming home.

@bubbles drive safe !

I only have a 6 x 8 GH so mine is probably easier to heat. But the heat went off at 8 and then the 3' grow lights and three 65 watt fluorescent lights come on -- and that's keeping it at 54. (I do have it wrapped in the solar pool cover that Ken uses). I have all the little pepper seedlings up under the T5 grow light and it's warmer right under that. The rest of the plants can take a chill, but I'll have to monitor all day. May have to turn that heater back on before its usual time.

I have a popup 6 x 6 also with my lemon, tomatoes and jalapeno (which are all producing and actually have bees in there !) . For that I've got three 65 watt bulbs going and I've tented it with those mylar blankets. That's staying at 60. Hope it continues, as I can't add any more heaters to that one outlet I'm using !

Geeze! Just a few days ago I was figuring out how to cool it down . Hilarious!

The first few years, we had the large Xmas lights for heat. Our neighbors weren't excited about the overnight lights disturbing their sleep. We switched to the heaters, but I still have those lights. I may dig them out and use them in the little GH for daytime warmth today!

I just got topped off on the 100 gallon propane tank. That should finish this season. I'll have to check my cost, but I'm sure I saved enough to pay for all the improvement cost. Thumbs up

We are getting a sleet storm. I measured 1 1/2" so far. It is really coming down and the NW winds are bitterly cold. I'm ready for spring.

Yep, we got the same storm, or at least a sleet storm between 3:30 and 4:00 AM. It was really coming down and with the strong northerly wind, the sleet was pounding our bedroom windows and woke us up. It is raining right now but I don't know why its not sleeting like cats and dogs. It is 32F and supposed to drop to 28F by mid-morning. Everything from Jackson, MS north has shut down and there is going to be a lot of accidents and power outages from all the ice accumulation. We are not getting above freezing today and tomorrow AM will be 18F! Crying

I'm staying inside too, Ursula. It was bad enough walking down the driveway to get our paper (supposed to be two, but only one was delivered). The drive is a pretty good slope and I found out after a few tentative steps that going down the driveway was a no-no. I ended up (carefully) going down the lawn, the same lawn I busted my bu** on last week. It was a little slippery but I at least stayed upright. Our temperature has now dropped 2.5F since 6:30 AM. It has now begun to snow hard again. Sighing!

That sounds great, Ursula. I might venture out to the greenhouses, walking very carefully as I make my way from the porch. Everything is pretty much frozen here and its only going to get worse. Sighing!

I just got in from putting my LP heater in one of the greenhouses, and I am freezing. I have on two sweat shirts and a heavy jacket and only walked 30' from the porch into the greenhouse, but I am cold, cold, cold. I had to break the ice/snow away from the sliding doors of the greenhouse just to get in! Sticking tongue out We probably only got 1/2" of snow Melissa but about 1" of sleet. I guess all the white stuff is done though. We are still heavily cloudy but haven't had any snow flurries for several hours now. Hurray!

We shoveled about 6 inches of snow and I thought for sure it was done, but it is coming down some more. It is hopefully not enough to have to shovel again.
