Well, it's getting close to spring, and I'm getting excited! I have 3-4 pots of Achiminee's potted up just waiting on the weather to warm up and them to begin to grow. A couple of ATP members have shared with me and I have bought some off eBay. My last two came out of Hong Kong, and one of them was a peach color and the other one was called Tiny Red. I have 7 different colors ordered from a company out on the west coast, but they haven't shipped yet, though I ordered just after the first of the year. So I can't wait to see my blooms this year!!! I am very excited! Hurray!

Donna, how exciting! I hope you will post photos of your babies once they begin to grow! I used to have a couple of pots of Cupid's Bow (Achimenes) but they must have withered away because I haven't noticed them in awhile, last October to be exact was the last time I saw a bloom ... maybe they will surprise me and pop up once again when the weather warms up!

Linda, mine usually die down in fall. & sleep for winter. I don't water them. Then about late march early APRIL I begin to water them and they will wake up and start growing. They come from small rhizomes and need that winter rest.

I'm getting excited, too. As soon as I'm back in my house, I'm ordering some Achimenes, and nursing some of my neglected house plants back to health. I can't get to them to water them while they're working on smoke damage in the house.

Donna, Achimenes do go dormant here too so I'm hoping I see a few pop up before long!

@Celene, Oh my ... smoke damage in the house? Did you have a fire?? I sure hope you and your family are ok!

Two days after Christmas. All humans and pets were fine, but some smoke damage.

Celene, oh, so terribly sorry to hear a out your house fire. I am thrilled to hear that your family and your fur babies were fine. One of my greatest fears is a fire and my sweet fur babies being inside with us gone. I can hardly bear to think of it. If our home ever catches on fire, I hope someone tears the door off the hinges and gets them out. Doors can be repaired. My babies safety is more important.

Celene, I ordered several new Achiminee's from a very sweet old gentleman out on the west coast who had phenomenal amount of them listed in a rainbow of colors. I can't remember the name of the nursery, but I have the phone number and I think still have the web address. They are wonderful to chat with, I thought the prices were reasonable. There are no pix, but descriptions of the colors. I will be buying more. I would go ahead and order if I were you though. I'm sure they will sell out of some of the nice colors, and prolly would hold your shipment if you wished??

Celene, here is the phone number to the nursery:

I spoke with a perfectly delightful old gentleman in his 70's who advised me he & his brother own the nursery. They have 2-3 employees I think??? Or maybe it was three total with the brothers. We had a nice long chat after I placed my order. He was in no hurry to get rid of me, nor I him. His brother was near his age.
