Those are not holes, they are actually mounds. But this is the first time I have planted anything in this bed, so I have no idea how the plants are going to grow here yet. Right now my biggest concern is not the plants sinking deeper, but it will be trying to keep the critters from digging them up! I have at times noticed some plants in different beds seem to be working their way a little deeper(my main concern is my Amaryllis) but I can't tell it has caused a major problem yet with any plants. I assume you must have sandy soil?
Sometimes I plant very shallow and it seems the plants pull themselves down, and sometimes I see plants that seem to be pulling up their roots like they are planning on leaving. Shrug!

Hilarious! Larry! Around here, nearly any plant would choose to pull up roots and move to a more hospitable location if they had the choice! Since they don't, some try to hide Smiling .

Thanks Gale about the cedar bark. I always mulch here because of the heat. I try to tell those who ask me about their plants dying and tell me they water all the time, that hot wet soil is not a good thing for roots. They need to keep the hot summer sun off of the ground around their plants. But I was wondering about the composition of cedar versus pine and the eventual breakdown. Sometimes for me too much knowledge leads me to not doing anything for fear I'll do the wrong thing! Rolling my eyes.

I received my order from Floyd Cove on Wednesday, and the plants are really wonderful, all very large double fans or two fans except for SMILING COBRA, which was offered as a single fan. And they included not one but two gift plants. Can't beat that!

Received my shipped notice from Fred....and the heart starts dancing again. I will say, its getting darn hot here. From hence forth, it might be more work than excitement, but thats ok, if they are healthy and bloom, thats the ticket. I best get some more mix made....and quick.

I was wondering if anyone has gotten any plants from Nicole Harry yet this year. It just seems late.

Pam, why don't you call or email her? Obviously she knows it's getting late. I don't even try to plant after February. The plants need to get settled in so they can survive the heat and rain! Good luck! Hope you get your order soon.

Yea, Im a little upset she hasn't sent them. Hard to get them going good when its so hot. I think Im just going to send her off an email right now. Not to sound grumpy, but for the money I paid, I would have like to think I could see a bloom this year. Im guessing the plants are already scaping and the scapes will just get chopped off.

I think it's fair to say her plants are in scape. In my own garden, about 75% of my daylilies are in scape.

I emailed Nicole and requested she send my plants ASAP, and she responded right away. But she is sending two plants later, and maybe she has some she's holding back and that's affecting orders right now. She always sends fantastic plants and bonuses, and I certainly wasn't disappointed this time. I suggest you contact her and ask how soon you can get your order.

I emailed her, she has emailed me back and said they were shipped friday, and should be here tomorrow. That will work, its suppose to rain all week and that will get them watered in good and not too much hot sun to start
