Hello, I noticed that there are no child plants listed for Voila Francois in the data base. Looking at the pictures, it appears that the pollen is not yellow, does that mean it is pollen sterile? Has any one who has it, had any luck with pods. I just ordered it from Maryott's and didn't notice that it was not a parent to any registered plants. Its looks like a beauty, so that is fine if it is sterile, but I was hoping to get some seedling in the future from it.

Thanks,
Gale

Per this blog, it is both pod and pollen fertile. http://shadowwoodgardens.blogs...
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

I have a seedling from Mary Gaskins with VF as a parent so presumably not completely sterile.

Polymerous, James, thanks for taking the time to respond. Amazing such a beautiful Daylily that has been around that long, does not have any registered child plants. Do you happen to have a picture of your seedling, James? Did it inherit the nice edge and whitesh color?

Thanks again,
Gale

Yes, Voila Francois is fertile both ways. I have seedlings inside
for the winter using both pod and pollen.

Arlene love both of those VF seedlings. Look like registration grade from where I am sitting. Do you have any stats on them ?

Just so you know--I only keep the exceptional seedlings!

The pink one is 36" tall. Her blooms are 6.25" and her average budcount is 31.

The white one (actually a very pale polychrome) is also 36" tall. Blooms are 6.50 and the average budcount is 21.

Both are very vigorous growers and have above average resistance to rust--I don't spray as often as I should.

Thanks for asking!

Natalie, I don't sell plants--I give them away. I have no motivation at all to sell so I have no motivation to register, either. Guess I'm just a lazy beach bum. These plants give me so much enjoyment that whether or not they are registered ..... who cares. On the other hand, I have no noid daylilies in my boxes. Funny, isn't it?

Misty, the pink seedling is putting up another scape. One way or another, that lovely lady wants to be the first to bloom. I don't know if you remember, but she is the one who put up a scape in January and again in February. Because they looked distorted, I cut them off. The scape she has now is perfect and the timing is perfect. My usual first bloom is usually around the third week of March. Go for it, girl!!!!

I don't sell plants either, but I do hope to get a few good seedlings to register. I want one to name after my Mom, for one thing. A friend has asked me to name one after her, too. I told her that she has to be nice to me, so that it is a pretty one! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

You should give some ditch Lily to your old neighbor and tell her you named it after her. Because it's invasive and never stays in its own yard.

By the way, thanks, Polymerous for adding the link to my blog.
Hope you enjoyed some of the seedling photos. It is always nice to
know that something I have written is of use to others particularly
concerning the fertility. Have more to add as time permits.

Hope to register some of them if the plants do well after this gosh awful
winter.
