Fish-a-lizer for Dave

(I wonder if this was meant for OUR Dave?)

http://growyourowngroceries.or...

QUOTE I have an idea for Dave, who had an abundance of fish after his aquaponic experiment went south. Take those unfortunate fish and give your in-ground garden a boost! Fish emulsion is a good fertilizer for lots of garden vegetables and other plants too. It has an N-P-K ratio of about 5-2-2, and has micronutrients too. Store bought fish emulsion is made from the byproducts and waste from fish used for another process, like fish oil or canned fish. Using fresh fish that still have all their parts intact should be even better than the commercial stuff. UNQUOTE

THE SOIL FOOD WEB. DR. ELAINE INGHAM.
QUOTE:
Historically, soils have not received the respect nor the attention they deserve. Mechanical and biological processes have not been as well understood as they need to be because the green revolution has masked the severity of the crisis. Ironically, the green revolution was the period of time in the twentieth century during which crop yields were dramatically increased through the use of chemicals and high‐yield cropping. In addition, the degradation of soils through nutrient loss, infertility, increased salinity, erosion and desertification has been identified by the United Nations as one of the most serious threats facing humanity today. Healthy soils are as essential as clean air and water, and protecting these basic elements should be the foundation of all sustainability policies. Globally, plants provide, either directly or indirectly, 99.7% of all food calories for the planet.1 Soil conservation and management should be the top priority of all nations, and appropriately the UN has designated 2015 as the International Year of Soils.

“Pests, diseases and lack of fertility don’t exist anymore if you get the biology correct in your soil.” –Dr. Elaine Ingham Montreal 2015 UNQUOTE.

Thank you for including the quote with the link above.

I agree that healthy soil is as vital as clean air and clean water, but the last sentence in the quote above seemed like such an unlikely generalization, I went to the link to the article.

I can tell that I have just skimmed the surface of the topic of healthy soil. There's a lot more to it than I thought.

Smiles,

Mercola.com A MESSAGE FROM 1937: SAVE THE SOIL.
http://articles.mercola.com/si...

TWO VIDEOS:
1. FROM FOOD FORWARD.
SOS:SAVE OUR SOIL. PBS 26:47 "
QUOTE
The top six inches of soil are the most precious, yet least understood ecosystem on earth—yet we continue to treat soil like dirt. Get down and dirty with large-scale Midwestern composters, California carbon farmers reversing climate change and a West Virginia poultry farmer creating ‘biochar’ from chicken poop. Explore new frontiers beneath our feet that just might save our soil.

2. MERCOLA INTERVIEWS COURTNEY WHITE ON CARBON SEQUESTRATION

QUOTE
Much of the focus on reducing greenhouse gases revolves around reducing carbon emissions, but now that we’re armed with rapidly expanding knowledge about carbon storage in soils, greater attention should be paid to carbon sequestration and soil restoration.

Carbon sequestration refers to taking the carbon from the atmosphere and putting it back into the soil, in a stable form of organic matter.
