All of a sudden, last year, these weeds were popping up everywhere. I don't recall seeing them before. They are hard to remove, because of a hefty taproot. What are they?
Thanks
Rob

I'm so bad at comparing photos but a couple of possibilities maybe?

Bitter Dock (Rumex obtusifolius)

Or maybe Self-heal (Prunella vulgaris)

Here's the entire list from Penn State: http://plantscience.psu.edu/research/centers/turf/extension/...

Thanks for the suggestions. It's definitely not prunella, and I don't think it's dock either: I have some of those, but it's possible that it's a different species.

Nope, I try not to let my weeds go to flower. If it shows up again this year (as I expect it will), I'll try to take a more distinctive photo.
