SunHosta is a trademarked name. Here is a link to info about it. It is recommended to be grown in full sun to allow the white borders to fully develop. It should bloom in late spring for several weeks and has a smell similar to Jasmine.

I think this is just a marketing technique. I'll bet they are not new cultivars specifically bred for sun tolerance. Reminds me of plants at the big box stores. Just MHO...........

Definitely marketing...but they guarantee them for a year, so if they will not tolerate sun they would be shooting themselves in the foot by recommending they be planted in full sun.
