Anne - I'm not sure ! I've never root pruned any of mine....just keep moving them up. Which one's do you have ?

I grow most of mine in a pretty chunky mix of Orchid Bark, Extra coarse perlite, Tree Fern fiber sometimes Coco husk chunks if I can find it easily and a little potting soil. If I'm growing them in a slate basket, I line the basket with Long fiber sphagnum moss first, then use the same mix.

Anthurium vittariifolium in the center, and Anthurium pseudospectablile upper left corner in slate baskets.

Anthurium verapazense, just before I moved it up to the clay pot. You can see some orchid bark and tree fern fiber in the mix.

To be honest, I don't really know anything about Anthuriums .. I have them in soil - I'll fix that when I have the time.

Here are the ones I have:

Bubble Gum
Giant Red
Peppermint - though not really sure it is
White #1
White #2

The comments about moving reminded me about the work I'm facing in moving the entire Aroidia Research collection and breeding stock to our new 10 acre location. Some Philodendron plants are so big I will need the largest U-Haul and a tree moving cart just to move, say, six or eight of them, and they will be scraping the roof! Greenhouses, benches, plants so numerous it seems I couldn't count them - ask Drew, he's been here! Problem down here is everything grows nearly year round, so a plant that is small now will be huge come moving time.

Anyone want to come down for a moving party? LOL!
