Hi everyone! I am also a hopeless Hosta addict. Can never resist them, and will always find a spot for another. They remain very dormant , buried under lots of snow for now.... I LOVE the way they emerge in the spring! The tiny tip, growing each day... its fasinating! then the beautiful leaves unfold!!!

Hi, Kay
Glad to meet you. I love the little tips pushing thru too.

Is anyone growing some of the whitish ones? Do they come up later?
I have been told that.

How many varieties is everyone growing?

Hi, everyone. I'm Pattie, known as pbtxlady over on DG. (Well, I guess here too, LOL.) Anyway, I'm a hosta lover but almost never make it over to the hosta forums there due to time. Just wanted to say hello.

Hi folks,

I know a lot of you from DG, but not all. I've been a member over here for awhile, but haven't had much time to spend here and to be honest I'm a bit afraid of another addiction. Polly - I know where Hannibal is. I grew up just east of Rochester and the route I took regularly until my DM passed away took me through Hannibal or the outskirts of it.

Molly - sure glad that your friend was able to rescue some of your hostas.

I have nearly 150 varieties of Hostas in a city lot. I don't have a lot of lawn left. I've put pics of my hostas on SmugMug and you'll find them at: http://violaann.smugmug.com/Ga...

I'm getting only a few new varieties this year, but look forward to being part of the Ontario Hosta Society on their Eastern Ontario bus tour in late June.

Ann

Hi - I guess it'd be nice to know who the admins are. I have over 450 hosta and garden on about 1/2 acre in town. I also like many other perennials, so have about 375 or so daylilies, and lots of lilies, ferns, heucheras (those are all the ones I tend to label). Then there's coneflowers, bee balm and so many things I can't resist when we go on road trips.
My yard is accented with lots of gargoyles, griffins, and metal suns. Lots of places to sit (but seems nobody has time to actually use them).

Spring is on the way! We almost hit 50 today, snow is melting. I got out and hit a garden/antique store today. I found an old hand tool that was neat. I want to display it, but I am thinking I may use it the garden too LOL. Things were made to last, years ago!
I am glad to see old hosta friends and glad to meet new ones too.

CJ in my neighboring state of Iowa... Wow! Very nice shady garden. I like it a lot.
My gardens are fairly new. I'm starting my 4th year at our home. We began from scratch, with only 7 trees, no other plants of any kind. I've worked the soil and created new beds, with more to come!! I love shade gardens, and hope they look like yours some day! I'm working on it Rolling my eyes.
I work for a landscaping co. so I'm always bringing home salvaged plants and orphans. Fun!
