Unloaded three bags of the long pine needle mulch on the Japanese iris garden at the courtyard. It felt good, but crispy, outside.

If we get the rain along with the high temperatures, your snow should disappear, Marilyn.

Rain this afternoon. It will help the snow melt, but a long way to go. The big piles will take longer, although DH took some off the top of the pile at the end of the driveway.

I've seen geese also.....Some snow has melted, Arlene, but much more remains... Sad No crocus or daffs visible yet, but I see some reticulated iris!

Lots of robins patrolling the front lawn, some geese (not as many as usual), so many birds at the feeders, and finally all the snow is gone except the front edge of the lawn where the town deposited the excess snow - now really dark and ugly. Possibility of snow for tomorrow: not so thrilling. I feel like I'm getting twice as old as I wait to garden every day, not what we've been suffering through.

Some snow melt has started. A great deal still here however. snow for Sat.? Weatherman says that it will be very light, but I don't want it to cover up the area where melt has taken place.

The Canadian Geese are here all year round, they frequent the local parks and golf courses. Plenty of Geese poop everywhere! Crying

Well, I am having more and more crocus come open and crocus surely mean spring. Nothing else blooming as yet though.

We have the same problem with the geese. I have been told that since they now come from the area, they don't migrate. At lease that one which are difficult during the entire year.

The geese are out here all year but in winter they must go to the Hamptons - not a long flight across Southold Bay. I wish they'd stay over there.

A few years ago a neighbor, who lives on the water, said: We (meaning her and her husband) shouldn't have to put up with the deer considering the $20,000. taxes we pay. Do the geese give a poop about the taxes she pays? What a laugh.

The local park across the street is covered in Geese poop. There are big flocks there all day long. Dogs are not allowed in the park. What, for fear they will poop? There is already poop everywhere and at least dog poo can be picked up. Plus dogs might scare away the Geese, at least temporarily.

Maybe they won't allow dogs to keep the dog owners sane. Otherwise they could come home with ground-in goose/geese poop in their paws. The goose poop is horrid green slime for those who haven't seen it. (You haven't missed anything!)

The snow is melting in a small bed on a hill, given some help by my concrete statue of a winged lion. Can't check out the plants as there is a pile of snow in the way which was left by the plow which did the driveway. Behind that there is just plain snow. The bed on the hill should all be melted before the stuff blocking the way to it.

So disappointing to see more snow. It's not what gardeners want. At least the birds are chirping so that's good news.
