I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database!
This is the first year that I can remember that all the trees are in bloom at once.

The pics are looking good. Do you have 'Dragon Tails'? How does it compare to 'Atom Smasher'?

Thanks Jeff , Diann, and Ann. This is a very exciting time of year, watching all the hostas coming up.

We have Dragon Tails also. We haven't compared them side by side but I think the leaves on Atom Smasher are narrower and more elongated. I'll have to go out tomorrow and get a picture for comparison.

I checked on Dragon Tails this morning and it is just coming up and starting to unfurl so I can't get a good pic yet. However, it does appear to have a little wider leaf than A.S. In a week or so I should be able to compare better.

Here is a picture finally of Dragon Tails I took yesterday, Ann. I will follow with an updated photo of Atom Smasher taken yesterday.

Here is Atom Smasher. They are both about the same size. The leaves on Dragon Tails are shorter and wider. The color on Dragon Tails is a little more lime.

Our Liberty is not very old so it's hard to make a comparison. It looks to me that Liberty might be very similar when it grows up.

I think a side-by-side comparison would be necessary to tell the difference between Dragon Tails and Atom Smasher.

The Leaves are definitely longer and narrower on Atom Smasher in our garden. You might contact Ron Livingston and see if he would be willing to sell a piece of Atom Smasher so you could make your own on site comparison. We plan to use both extensively in our breeding program this season. Atom Smasher is already a proven parent. Hopefully Dragon Tails will be also.

Thanks. Unless Atom Smasher is commercially available, I won't be able to attain it as there's that international border between us. Someday, maybe.
