On my way home today I saw a pretty white IB blooming in someone's yard. It ticks me off when I see rebloom in the grass and weeds, but none in my tended beds, LOL.

I planted the rhizomes that Sherry sent today, and tried something new with them. I had soaked them for a short while in H2O2 solution, but not as long as I'd like. So I watered them in with H2O2 solution really well too. I've seen great results from soaking in it, curious if watering with it will show positive results.

Spartan is such a nice red red. Schreiner's is always trying for a true red, but in my book this one is pretty darn close to true red. Then again, you could ask 100 people to show you true red and would probably get 100 different shades!!

I found a really dried rhizome that had fallen behind the table where I stage those that are about to be planted. It was small to start with and had been back there for weeks.I soaked it for 24 hours in H2O2 solution, and that baby had new roots forming! Same thing happened with a daylily that didn't have a lot of roots.

I got 'Masada' as a bonus a couple years ago from Bluebird Haven. I thought it was a pretty nice red...

Yes, I think "Spartan" is what I was looking for all along, but ended up buying deeper and darker Reds, when infact what I wanted was a true Red. That's why I put it on my Wish List for next year.

'the closest in red are Louisiana irises. they are beardless. 'Spectrum red' doesn't exist in beaded irises, we can only get so close.
